Take a Virtual Field Trip Instead Tour Guide - How Field Trips Work
Hello and welcome to Virtual Field Trips. Come join me on an educational and fun adventure!

It's as easy as 1 • 2 • 3:
  1. Decide which trip you would like to take from the Field Trip List. Have your printer powered-up, full of paper, and ready to go. You will want to print the research portion or read it from the screen. Having a copy of the questions or facts while visiting each site will be advantageous. In case the site is down due to heavy traffic or other causes, you can visit another time and you will have all the resources to aid you with your trip.

  2. Click on the field trip you wish to take to launch your trip and view the pages of interest. There is no one 'correct' way to visit different sites. Each offers their own array of links to follow. Some are directly related to the site. Some links are of similar topics which you may decide to explore another day. You decide how much of the site you want to visit in one or more sessions. The lesson plans include site navigation. In order to find answers to the 'Scavenger Hunt Questions', you should follow the site navigation directions. After that, you may visit additional links on each site at your leisure.

Remember, once you've begun the trip you can adjust the on-screen instruction frame to optimize it based on your browser/monitor size. Just grab the frame with your mouse and drag it to make it bigger or smaller.

  3. After the trip, you may want to do the follow-up suggested activities. It is up to you! The follow-up activities reinforce what has been viewed and often is a nice way to end the field trip. The answers can be found on the site or in any type of reference book or encyclopedia. Many of the sites include resources and links, therefore I did not add a list.
Important Information
Fees charged: At this time, all of the sites listed or linked to by this site are provide to the public free of charge. This site, Virtual-Field-Trips.com, will provide research to facilitate visiting these sites with your students, and valuable time saving information. Those sites listed represent some of the best sites (in this author's opinion) available to the public.

I plan to continually expand, adding more field trips for your education and enjoyment. If you find any sites that might be of interest to the general public, please e-mail me with your suggestion.

Suitability of Use: The World Wide Web sites and their contents used by Virtual Field Trips do not necessarily reflect our views or beliefs. Each segment of the Virtual Field Trip has been thoroughly reviewed and is, as of this writing, 'kid safe.' Web sites can and do change frequently; it is your responsibility to insure that all material on web sites visited are suitable for viewing by children. As in any educational setting, it is highly recommended that adult supervision be present.
